Belted Galloway Cattle (Belties)

Belted Galloway Cattle

Belted Galloways are thought to be related to the cattle brought to Great Britain.
These cattle come from the hardiest of stock that from early times were forced to graze and survive in some of the roughest terrain and elements of the Scotland.
Belted Galloways were imported to the United State in 1939.
Mature cows weigh between 1100-1300 pounds. Bulls at age five years will weigh between 1800-2000 pounds.

Belties will produce exceptionally lean and flavorful meat.
The belted galloways dress out well in excess of 60% of their weight.
The belted galloways produce healthy offspring without birthing assistance.
 
 
General Facts About the Belted Galloways.
 
The belties can be a show cow. The belties are a show stopping in appearance.
The belties come in black and white and red and white and dun and white with a complete white belt around the middle.
The belties coat is thick to keep them warm and dry in the winter.
Dual hair means--less outer fat and lower cholesterol meat.
These cows are gentle, docile, and easily worked and handled.
They are a medium size animal therefore reduces feed costs.
They make excellent mothers they produce very rich, and plenty of milk.
They are disease resistant.
They are ideal for small homestead farms.
These are beautiful show animals.
They would make great 4-H and FFA projects.
